W18 Day 90 of Nana's Internship

Week 18 Day 90 (08 Aug 2025)

Activity

Continued cross-checking my previous records with the COGS based on car sales records provided by the business owner, which were organized separately by car plate numbers, focusing on the month of October 2024.

- Issued a quotation for a client regarding the services we provide.

- Discussed with a client about the pricing for sending some of their workers’ payroll transactions to the LHDN officer for PCB audit purposes.

- Received a task from Ms. Amber to query a client regarding rental income after receiving a letter from LHDN indicating it was undeclared. Worked on clarifying the situation and identifying the documents the client needed to share with us.

- Learned about which expenses are allowable for tax deduction for respective types of income.

Key Learning

Improved accuracy when cross-checking COGS records for specific months.

- Understood the process of preparing and issuing a quotation for clients.

- Gained communication experience in discussing sensitive matters such as audit-related payroll submissions with clients.

- Learned how to query clients effectively regarding undeclared income and identify the necessary supporting documents.

- Strengthened knowledge of allowable expenses for tax deduction based on income categories.

Reflection

Today’s work was a mix of checking, talking to client, and learning new thing. I started with checking COGS for October 2024. I try to be more careful to see any small mistake because even small one can make big difference for the record. Issuing quotation for client make me realise that even simple task also needs to be clear and correct, because it represents our company. Besides, talking to client was the most active part today. I discuss about the price for sending their payroll record to LHDN officer for PCB audit. I need to balance between being professional and also understand their problem. The rental income case from Ms. Amber was more complicated. After reading the letter from LHDN, I need to understand the situation and prepare the right question for the client so we can get the correct document from them. At the end, I also learn about what expense can be tax deductible. This help me understand more about how tax work in real situation. Overall, today I feel like I do some investigation, deal with client, and also learn technical thing, which make me see accounting is not only about number but many skills together.
