W4 Day 17 of Nana's Internship

Activity
- Made a correction as advised by Ms. Chan for the EPF (July–December), where I had mistakenly recorded the double entry into "Cash in Hand" instead of "Accrual – EPF."
- Double-checked all the cash transactions that had been keyed in.
- Communicated with the client to confirm the purpose of certain payments to determine whether they were for business or personal expenses.
- While waiting for the client to send the missing December cash sales, I continued the task given by Mr. Lim last week — keying in another client’s income into an Excel file as a record for Alson.
- Received a new task from Ms. Chan, who taught me how to key in a client’s business transactions using Excel, since the client did not use any accounting system.
Key Learning
- Learned how to correct mistakes in EPF journal entries by understanding proper account classification.
- Improved data validation skills by double-checking previous entries.
- Developed communication skills when clarifying transaction details with clients.
- Gained experience in organizing client income data manually in Excel.
- Learned to handle cases where clients do not use accounting software, by preparing structured records manually.
- Strengthened multitasking and prioritization while waiting on pending documents.
Reflection
Today was a
mix of correcting past mistakes and learning new things. I corrected the EPF
double entry for July to December based on Ms. Chan’s advice — I had mistakenly
recorded it under "Cash in Hand" instead of "Accrual –
EPF." After that, I double-checked all the cash entries to ensure they
were accurate. While waiting for the client to send the missing December sales
data, I communicated with them to confirm the purpose of certain payments,
which helped me avoid misclassifying personal and business expenses. I also
continued the Excel income record task from Mr. Lim and received a new task
from Ms. Chan to manually key in a client’s business transactions. However, I
felt a bit confused about this new task since I haven’t seen much progress yet.
It was a productive and educational day. I hope I can understand the process
better and handle it properly and smoothly tomorrow.
