W6 Day 28 of Nana's Internship

Activity
- Continued with the pending task I paused last week. I asked Ms. Chan again to confirm whether the notes I had taken were correct.
- Accompanied Mr. Lim to Telekom Malaysia to check the status update regarding the technician visit for maintaining the office phone main line and hunting line.
- After returning to the office, I rechecked and amended the purchase transactions by cross-referencing them with the supplier data I had keyed into Excel last week.
- Communicated with the client to request the missing supporting documents needed to complete the record.
Key Learning
- Reinforced the importance of double-checking notes and prior work to ensure accuracy.
- Learned to cross-verify supplier transactions to prevent errors in purchase records.
- Gained insight into how external communications (e.g., with service providers like Telekom) are part of an accountant’s broader administrative responsibilities.
- Improved communication skills when requesting missing documents from clients.
Reflection
Today was a
meaningful and fulfilling day. In the morning, I clarified some confusion with
Ms. Chan regarding how to match certain amounts in the records. For example, I
learned that the total amount a client pays through online banking to a
supplier must match the purchase amount stated in the invoice. This kind of
cross-checking is crucial for maintaining accuracy, and I’m glad I confirmed it
instead of assuming.
Later, Mr.
Lim assigned me to go speak directly with the Telekom Malaysia staff to get an
update on the technician appointment for our office’s phone line. Although it
might seem like a simple task, I felt a strong sense of responsibility carrying
it out independently. During the car ride, Mr. Lim also shared a lot of
valuable life advice that really stuck with me. He talked about how important
it is to have goals in life — that while most of us work to earn money, we
should also aim to work smart and maintain a healthy work-life balance. He
reminded me that entertainment and progress can go hand in hand, and that life
is short, so we should pursue things we’re truly passionate about. His words
were both inspiring and grounding. What made the day even more special was
receiving positive feedback from Mr. Lim — it gave me a real sense of
encouragement and recognition. It made me happy and motivated me to keep
improving and learning.
After
returning to the office, I went back to the task I had started earlier. I
carefully cross-checked each purchase transaction against the supplier records,
and I was finally able to get everything to tally. This gave me a renewed sense
of confidence and motivation. Seeing the results of my effort come together was
a reminder that persistence pays off, and it made me even more eager to take on
new challenges in the days ahead.
