- Continued rechecking the expense transactions I keyed in for the client whose purchase section I managed to tally yesterday.
- Received a new task from Ms. Chan — I was assigned to key in cash sales for a new client’s business, and I successfully completed the data entry.
- Received another task from Mr. Lim, which involved allocating, arranging, and categorizing receipts for another client’s business to assist with the accounting process.
Key Learning
- Learned the importance of double-checking expense entries to ensure consistency with purchase records.
- Improved my ability to manage and complete cash sales data entry efficiently for a new client.
- Understood how proper documentation and organization directly affect the clarity and accuracy of financial statements.
- Developed better time management by handling multiple tasks from different supervisors in one day.
Reflection
Today was a fairly packed day with different tasks coming from both Ms. Chan and Mr. Lim. In the morning, I rechecked the expense section for the client I worked on yesterday to ensure that all the data was aligned and accurate with the purchase records. It felt good to be more confident in my checking process after all the practice I've had recently. Later on, I received a new task from Ms. Chan to key in the cash sales for a new client. I managed to complete that within the day, which gave me a sense of accomplishment.
However, when I
received another task from Mr. Lim, I started to feel a bit of a headache—literally
and mentally. The task involved sorting through another client’s business
receipts, but they were all jumbled together in a single bag, with no
arrangement, no clips, and no clear order. It honestly felt like digging
through a bag of groceries from the market. I haven’t started the task yet, but
just looking at the condition of the documents already made me feel
overwhelmed.
This
situation reminded me of how crucial it is for businesses to maintain proper
organization of their financial documents. It also gave me a real taste of the
behind-the-scenes challenges accountants face when clients don't provide clear
records. Although it was frustrating, I know this will help me grow in terms of
patience, problem-solving, and adaptability.
