W8 Day 36 of Nana's Internship

Activity
- Continued keying in all the transactions that I had sorted last week for the client’s business into the Excel file.
- Started a new task assigned by Mr. Lim, which involved preparing an Excel file to present the Statement of Profit and Loss and the Balance Sheet for another client.
- Took on a new task given by Ms. Chan at my request to help with filing documents in the personal income tax files for several clients.
Key Learning
- Reinforced my understanding of how each transaction recorded in Excel contributes to the overall financial statements. Gained more confidence in preparing the basic structure for Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet using manual Excel methods.
- Learned the importance of systematic document filing in income tax files to ensure clear and traceable records for personal tax purposes.
- Recognized how asking for tasks proactively can help me broaden my exposure to different areas of accounting.
Reflection
Today was quite
fulfilling and reflective of how much I’ve grown in handling various
responsibilities during my internship. I started the day by continuing and
completing the remaining parts of the tasks assigned by Mr. Lim. This included
finishing the data entry and successfully preparing the Statement of Profit and
Loss along with the Balance Sheet for the client. It felt good to be trusted
with such important tasks, and being able to complete them gave me a sense of
accomplishment.
After that, I was ready to begin a task that Ms. Chan had assigned to me last week. However, I found out that I couldn’t start immediately because Ms. Chan was still using her desktop, which had the necessary files. Rather than idly waiting, I decided to take initiative and asked Ms. Chan if she could assign me another task in the meantime. She appreciated my effort to stay productive and gave me a new task which is organizing and filing personal income tax documents for several clients.
Although it wasn’t what I initially planned to work on, I was glad that I didn’t let the situation hold me back. Today reminded me of the importance of being flexible, proactive, and making the most out of my time at work. Being able to manage my tasks and adapt to changes smoothly gave me a deeper sense of responsibility and professionalism.
