W10 Day 46 of Nana's Internship

Week 10 Day 46 (09 Jun 2025)

Activity

Completed the audit schedule by finalizing the remaining sections, including Amount Due to Director, Sales, Purchase, and recurring Annual Expenses. This ensured that all major accounts were properly supported and reconciled for audit review.

- Sorted, photocopied, and organized all relevant supporting documents to match the journal entries I had previously keyed in. This was to ensure that every transaction was backed by clear documentation, making it easier for the audit process to proceed smoothly.

- Began a new accounting task assigned by Ms. Amber involving a different client. I reviewed the new documents and started preparing the work papers needed for data entry and account preparation.

Key Learning

Developed a stronger understanding of how to prepare a complete audit schedule, ensuring each section ties back accurately to the trial balance and general ledger.

- Reinforced the importance of maintaining proper documentation and filing having well-organized, traceable supporting documents significantly speeds up the audit and reduces confusion.

- Learned how to shift efficiently from one client's account to another, practicing adaptability and time management when handling multiple assignments.

Reflection

Today marked the completion of a major portion of the audit work I’ve been handling for the past few days. It felt really fulfilling to finalize the remaining components of the audit schedule and ensure everything balanced and made sense. Preparing the sales, purchase, and director’s account sections gave me a broader view of the client’s financial standing, and it helped reinforce my understanding of how each part fits into the bigger picture. After that, sorting and photocopying the supporting documents were a time-consuming but important task, it reminded me that in accounting, accuracy alone isn't enough but also proper documentation is just as crucial. It also made me realize how satisfying it is to have everything neat and in order, especially when someone else needs to review your work. After finishing that, Ms. Amber trusted me with a new task involving another client's account. While I haven’t gotten too deep into it yet, I already feel more prepared and confident compared to when I first started my internship. I’ve noticed my speed and understanding improving over time, and I’m excited to continue learning through each new assignment.
