W10 Day 47 of Nana's Internship

Activity
- Completed the account work for the previous client by finalizing all entries and ensuring everything was properly organized for audit and tax purposes.
- Received guidance from Ms. Amber on how to calculate tax payable for personal income tax. She explained the logic behind each step and how to refer to the correct tax rates and relief items.
- Attempted to prepare the tax schedule myself to calculate the tax payable for that client based on the information provided.
- Communicated with the client to clarify and confirm certain personal and financial details required for accurate tax reporting.
- Learned more about tax-related software such as MyTax, including how to navigate the platform and what key details are submitted through the system.
Key Learning
- Gained a clearer understanding of how personal income tax is calculated, including chargeable income, reliefs, and tax rates.
- Learned to prepare a tax schedule manually, which helped reinforce how the numbers are derived rather than just inputting them into software.
- Improved my professional communication skills through direct interaction with a client to gather required information.
- Became more familiar with using MyTax, Malaysia’s official online tax platform, which is essential in real-world tax practices.
Reflection
Today
was a meaningful learning experience as I transitioned from completing
accounting tasks to stepping into the basics of personal tax filing. Ms. Amber
patiently guided me through how to calculate tax payable, and although it was a
bit challenging at first, preparing the tax schedule helped me better
understand how each section of income and relief affects the final tax amount. I
also got to communicate directly with a client, which made me realize how
important it is to be clear and professional when asking for sensitive or
personal information. I’m starting to see how accounting and taxation are
deeply connected, and I appreciate that I’m slowly being exposed to both sides
of the work. Exploring the MyTax system also gave me insight into the tools
used in actual practice. Overall, I feel like I’m building a more complete
picture of what working in the accounting and tax field really involves, and it
motivates me to keep learning and improving.
