W21 Day 105 of Nana's Internship

Activity
- Keyed in cash sales into the customer invoice entry in SQL for the months January to June 2025.
- Separated and recorded cash sales between business stock sales and personal stock sales by preparing an Excel record for the same period.
- Went to BSN to renew a client’s business SSM certificate for 5 years.
Key Learning
- Gained hands-on practice using SQL to key in customer invoices and understood the importance of ensuring entries align with actual cash sales.
- Learned how to separate business-related and personal stock sales, which is crucial to maintain accuracy in reporting and avoid tax or compliance issues.
- Understood more about the administrative side of business compliance by handling the renewal of the SSM certificate, which reminded me that accounting services extend beyond financial records into regulatory responsibilities.
Reflection
Today’s work felt like a mix of routine office tasks and something a little different outside. When I was keying in cash sales into SQL for January to June 2025, I could feel how important it was to be extra careful because every single figure I keyed in would directly affect the customer’s invoice records. It reminded me again that accuracy in accounting is really about discipline and consistency. Then, when I separated the stock sales into business and personal using Excel, I started to realize how often clients may mix their personal and business activities. At first, it looked simply but when I went deeper, I understood that if this step was ignored, it could create a lot of problems for both reporting and compliance later.
In
the afternoon, I had to go to BSN to renew the client’s SSM certificate for 5
years. Even though it was a small task, it felt refreshing to step out from my
usual desk routine. It also opened my eyes that an accountant’s role is not
only about preparing accounts or checking double entries, but also about
helping clients fulfil their legal and business responsibilities. By the end of
the day, I felt satisfied because I managed to balance both technical
accounting work and administrative responsibility. Slowly, I can see myself
becoming more independent and confident in handling tasks, even when they are
varied and outside my comfort zone.
