Week 24 Day 118 (17 September 2025)


Activity


- Sorted supporting documents for a previous client but for a new financial year.

- Created a new database for a new client by analyzing his business documents and started doing his account work, including keying in purchases for the period of April & May 2025.


Key Learning


- Learned the importance of properly organizing supporting documents when transitioning to a new financial year.

- Gained hands-on experience in creating a new database and setting up accounts for a fresh client.

- Realized the value of analyzing documents carefully before data entry to ensure long-term accuracy.


Reflection


Today felt like a mix of continuation and fresh beginnings. On one side, I worked on sorting supporting documents for an existing client, which gave me a sense of consistency and continuity in handling ongoing accounts. On the other side, I had the chance to create a new database for a fresh client, which was more exciting but also required extra focus since everything had to be set up from scratch. Starting the purchase entries for April and May 2025 made me realize how important it is to carefully analyze the business documents before recording, because the accuracy of this foundation will affect all the upcoming work. I also felt a bit challenged to switch between different sets of tasks, but it was a good exercise in adaptability and attention to detail.

Week 1 Day 1 (07 April 2025) Activity -  Ms. Chan, a staff member from the Accounting Department, gave a briefing about the company’s activities and the accounting job scope. - Ms. Chan also taught me how to prepare a full set of accounts for a company and assigned some tasks to me. - I keyed in the company’s payment records into the payment vouchers and supplier payment records.
