W4 Day 18 of Nana's Internship

  Week 4 Day 18 (30 April 2025) Activity -  Created and keyed in the Property, Plant and Equipment (PPE) Schedule to calculate depreciation expenses for the client’s business. - Printed and filed all documents related to the business owner into his personal file for record-keeping purposes. - Continued the task assigned by Mr. Lim — keying in handwritten transactions into Excel. I adjusted and categorized all transactions into the correct accounts. - Started the task Ms. Chan gave me yesterday by keying in January’s cash sales of the new client’s business into Excel. Key Learning -  Learned how to create and record a PPE schedule to calculate depreciation. - Practiced proper filing techniques for personal business records. - Improved skills in interpreting and organizing handwritten financial data. - Gained experience in classifying transactions accurately in Excel. - Strengthened ability to multitask between ongoing and newly assigned responsibilities.   Reflection ...

  Week 4 Day 17 (29 April 2025) Activity -  Made a correction as advised by Ms. Chan for the EPF (July–December), where I had mistakenly recorded the double entry into "Cash in Hand" instead of "Accrual – EPF." -  Double-checked all the cash transactions that had been keyed in. -  Communicated with the client to confirm the purpose of certain payments to determine whether they were for business or personal expenses. -  While waiting for the client to send the missing December cash sales, I continued the task given by Mr. Lim last week — keying in another client’s income into an Excel file as a record for Alson. -  Received a new task from Ms. Chan, who taught me how to key in a client’s business transactions using Excel, since the client did not use any accounting system. Week 4 Day 16 (28 April 2025) Activity -  Continued keying in the cash transactions for the client’s company expenses. -  Helped Ms. Amber by making corrections for another client and printing the updated Statement of Balance Sheet and Statement of Profit and Loss. -  Knocked off the electricity bill issue I discussed with Ms. Chan last week, where the client paid some bills using a personal bank account instead of the company bank account. Week 3 Day 15 (25 April 2025) Activity -  Continued keying in cash payments related to the client’s company. - Made corrections to the reference numbers after realizing a mistake — bank statement transactions must use "PV" (Payment Voucher) while cash transactions must use "PC" (Petty Cash). - Discussed the problems I encountered during data entry with Ms. Chan, who explained and helped solve them with me.   Week 3 Day 14 (24 April 2025) Activity -  Continued keying in the bank-in and bank-paid transactions for the client’s company from November to December. - Inquired about the client’s purpose for visiting and guided the client in completing the necessary signature. - Checked and identified the transaction that caused the bank balance in December to not tally in the SQL system, then made the necessary adjustment.   Week 3 Day 13 (23 April 2025) Activity -  Continued keying in the bank-in and bank-paid transactions for the client’s company from August to October. - Helped a colleague solve an issue related to an imbalance in the debtor aging report, where the client’s trade payables were recorded in Excel. The debtor aging will be used later in the auditing process.   Week 3 Day 12 (22 April 2025) Activity -  C ontinued keying in the bank-in and bank-paid transactions for the client’s company from May to July. -  Ms. Amber spoke with me about the auditing job scope and helped me gain a better understanding of accounting. -  I discussed a problem with Ms. Chan regarding a client who made an insufficient payment for electricity bills. I shared my idea on how to solve it and asked for her opinion on whether my decision was correct.
