Week 8 Day 40 (30  May 2025) Activity -  Continued keying in the payment voucher (PV) transactions for the client from August 2024 to March 2025 using the SQL system. - Proceeded to key in the bank-in transactions from June 2024 to March 2025 for the same client. Key Learning -  Learned to maintain consistency in documenting transaction dates and references while inputting high volumes of data to avoid confusion later. - Improved my understanding of the flow between payment vouchers and bank-in transactions and how they affect the client’s cash book and bank reconciliation. - Realized the importance of chronological entry when dealing with long transaction periods, especially to ensure accurate monthly tracking. Reflection Today’s task required a lot of focus and patience, as I had to deal with a high volume of transactions for a long period from mid-2024 to early 2025. Key Learning -  Learned how to apply corrections in the UBS system after receiving revised information, reinforcing the importance of accuracy and timely updates in accounting records. - Practiced using the SQL accounting system for data entry, gaining more familiarity with different software tools used in the field. - Understood that filing and document updates are ongoing processes, essential for maintaining a smooth workflow in accounting operations. Week 8 Day 38 (28  May 2025) Activity -  Filed all the documents that Ms. Chan assigned to me, which included personal income tax files for four to five different clients. - Emailed the company secretary to request several documents required for accounting purposes. Key Learning -  Improved my organization skills through systematic filing of tax documents. - Learned how to professionally communicate with external parties (e.g., company secretary) to follow up on necessary documentation. - Understood the importance of complete and well-organized records in supporting accurate accounting and tax work. Reflection Today’s tasks were more administrative, but they were just as important as any technical accounting work. Week 8 Day 37 (27  May 2025) Activity -  Started the task that Ms. Chan previously assigned, which involved keying in a client’s accounting data using the UBS accounting system. Key Learning -  Strengthened my familiarity with UBS system functions and data entry processes. - Practiced accuracy and attention to detail when matching entries with client documents. - Learned to manage time efficiently when working independently on important tasks. Reflection Today, I finally had the chance to start the task that Ms. Chan had assigned to me earlier, which involved entering a client’s data into the UBS accounting system. Although this wasn’t my first time using UBS, I still appreciated the opportunity to gain more practice. Since the client’s documents were stored on Ms. Chan’s desktop, I couldn’t begin until she was away from the office today. Week 8 Day 36 (26  May 2025) Activity -  Continued keying in all the transactions that I had sorted last week for the client’s business into the Excel file. - Started a new task assigned by Mr. Lim, which involved preparing an Excel file to present the Statement of Profit and Loss and the Balance Sheet for another client. - Took on a new task given by Ms. Chan at my request to help with filing documents in the personal income tax files for several clients.   Week 7 Day 35 (23  May 2025) Activity -  Continued sorting the client’s business receipts from November to December. - Started keying in the transactions into the Excel file based on the categorized receipts.   Key Learning -  I strengthened my understanding of how to organize raw source documents (like physical receipts) into meaningful categories for accurate data entry.   - Learned the importance of consistency when labelling and recording transactions to avoid errors later in the financial statements.   - Realized that good document management at the beginning of the process makes the rest of the accounting workflow much smoother and more efficient.   - Practiced identifying which expenses belong under which accounts, which helped reinforce my basic accounting classification skills.   Reflection Today I continued working on the remaining receipts from November to December, and honestly, it felt a bit overwhelming at first.   Week 7 Day 34 (22 May 2025) Activity -  Restored the file I brought home yesterday to continue balancing the client’s account.   - Started a new task assigned by Mr. Lim, which involved sorting the receipts from a new client (January to October) into their appropriate account categories.   Key Learning -  Learned how to manage work files responsibly when working between home and office to avoid data loss or duplication.   - Improved my understanding of how to properly categorize business receipts for accounting purposes, which is essential for accurate financial reporting.   Reflection Today, I restored the file I had taken home yesterday, and I felt genuinely happy and relieved because I finally managed to balance the general ledger and balance sheet. This was something I had been working on for quite a while and achieving that balance gave me a great sense of accomplishment.   Week 7 Day 33 (21 May 2025) Activity -  Continued adjusting and checking the double entries for client accounts. - Continued investigating the cause of the imbalance between the general ledger and the balance sheet. - Received a new task from Mr. Lim and Ms. Chan to handle the full set of accounts for a new client. Key Learning -  Strengthened my analytical skills by revisiting and correcting past entries and gained deeper insight into the structure of the general ledger and balance sheet. - Learned that even small errors in entry placement can significantly affect the accuracy of financial reports. - Learned to manage multiple tasks and prioritize under tight deadlines. Reflection Today was quite stressful as the pressure of deadlines started to build up.
